Categories in Blogger
I usually don’t get into too many blog related topics on here. However, I thought this was a great bit of information to keep fresh in the blogosphere.
I run a photoblog over at Neuro’s Photoblog and was kind of frustrated that Blogger doesn’t have categories. This blog has them because I am using Wordpress and I have been very happy with the category function in this set up. I wanted to have the same type of options over on my blogger site. So I did a little browsing around the net to see what scripts were out there to make this possible. Fortunately there was a lot of information.
It took me awhile to find exactly what works for me. I found one that does and I have been extremely happy with it. So I thought I would share the link so other blogger users could set up their own categories.
The only draw back that I found was that it is only able to run the script in Firefox. Of course why would you use anything else?

Categories for Blogger blogs are long overdue. While they are easily searchable, sorting content by categories is an obvious and easy to understand navigation option for readers.
Good point on FireFox. I have to open IE to deal with a few web sites requiring Active X components, but not many.

Yes, I agree that it is long over due. I think part of the reason they haven’t put it into place is because of all the work arounds that are out there. Why change something that others are already fixing for you?
I have been pretty happy with the category set up I now have on my photoblog. It’s easy to work with.
