Double Dribble Called on CBS for Facebook March Madness Application Issues

I had posted a bit ago about how I thought it was pretty cool that CBS and Facebook were coming together to bring March Madness to Facebook. Looks like it isn’t working out the way they had hoped. According to a post on TechCrunch, CBS Sports Facing March Madness Backlash on Facebook. “This App Blows.” there are some major complaints about how the application is working. This is not good for a major player like CBS. They really should have made sure the app was going to work right.

Just as TechCrunch pointed out, this is part of the risk that a major brand takes when it goes out in the social net arena. If they screw up the world will know and will know right away. People involved with social net do not waste time. Some say that bad press is still press but I have to say this isn’t good at all for CBS or Facebook for that matter. This is one of the biggest sporting events in the country and particularly huge for college students. Messing this up was not good in the least.

Facebook is already being criticized for how much friend spam occurs with applications like this and now they have a major one that doesn’t work right. Facebook better get their act together or they are going to end up with too many fouls.
