Endeavor Creative and SixDegrees.org
I am very proud to post about a good friend of mine who has recently had some really big news. Taughnee, principal of Endeavor Creative, recently announced her involvement with the SixDegrees.org website. In her own words (from her blog post)…
“I was fortunate to have the opportunity to provide a little design sparkle here and there (though I was hardly the only designer involved in the project). I added the final touches to the logo (the amazing concept is credited to Kevin’s daughter), worked to create the look and feel of the badges themselves (see examples here), provided some modifications to the SixDegrees.org site (though the heavy lifting was done by another firm), and a created the look and feel for the landing pages on the Network for Good site, where their infrastructure for secure online donations is “hooked” into the badges.”
Personally I think she is WAY TOO MODEST about this whole thing. She deserves a lot of credit for bringing an amazing logo concept to life. I think the font choice for the number six is excellent and the execution of the globe is nicely done. As a logo designer myself, I can’t help but take notice of some top notch work. Thumbs up girl!
Now if you aren’t sure what SixDegrees.org is all about, you should definitely take a trip over to the website. It’s a very well thought out concept for charity brought to us by Kevin Bacon. Yes, the Kevin Bacon from the all too familiar game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. We have all played it and if you haven’t for some crazy reason, I am sure you have heard of it.
The idea of SixDegrees.org, which will work in conjunction with Network For Good, is to establish a social network on the net to help raise money for a large variety of charities. There is a badge system which will help bring the charities some recognition and hopefully give people an easier way to donate.
Kevin himself said,
“SixDegrees.org is about using the idea that we are all connected to accomplish something good.”
There are a number of other celebrities involved with this cause and the word is being spread like wild fire at the Sundance Film Festival since Kevin’s public launch on January 18th, 2007.
I think this is an amazing thing and will definitely do what I can to get more involved with this. Again, I am uber proud of Taughnee for her involvement in such a great project and hope she does some well deserved celebrating!
