InDesign CS: Rounded Corners
Rounded rectangles are really common on a lot of the forms that I typeset. They appeal to people more than regular rectangles and squares. So I thought I would share how to achieve this in InDesign CS.
1. First you select the “Rectangle Frame Tool” or “Rectangle Tool.” It depends on if you want the box to be filled or not.

2. After selecting the tool, you will make your box the size that you wish by clicking the right mouse button and dragging. You can adjust your box size in the “Control” pallet. This is found under “Window” then “Control” (Alt+Ctl+6).
3. Once your box is made you will then need to round the corners. You do this by going under “Object” then “Corner effects…”
4. You will see a window pop up that looks like this.

5. Next you will select “Rounded” from the drop down menu at Effect.

6. Next you have to set the size of the curve that you want the corner to have. If you make sure the “Preview” is checked you can see how much it rounds the corners when you set the size.

7. Once you have set your size and are happy with it, you can hit OK. You will then see the results. They should show the corners have been changed to round corners. Similar to something like this.

nice tip. i’ve been looking that in indesign cs2 since i switched from pagemaker. how about if i wanted a round corner on the two corners of the rectangle? how about the top-left and bottom-right only. Or the top-right and bottom-left only?

I want to do the same thing! If you have found out how to have some corners round and some square, let me know, please.
