Markzware’s Q2ID Plugin

When the company I worked for moved to Adobe InDesign just over a year ago, we had some issues with trying to work with our old Quark files. Luckily we were still using Quark 4.1 and ID CS was able to open them. However, with the custom forms division upgrading to Quark 5 and then 6 over the last couple of months it has been a real pain to work with any of the files they create. Most of the time we had to go back and ask them to save them back to the lower versions. They eventually gave us a single copy of Quark to do the back saving ourselves and that has made it much simplier.

I was pleased to hear about a new plugin, Q2ID, from Markzware that makes this task much easier. For a company as large as the one I work for adding an additional liscense to the Quark list was a minimal cost. So this plugin wouldn’t have really been a plus for them. As an independent Graphic Designer with my own business, this plugin is a much better option for me. Especially if I plan to colaborate with other designers that may be using Quark and not InDesign. It would be ashame to have to struggle through a project in such a case. This new plugin makes it so this won’t have to happen.
