Printing Term: AQ Coating
I had a fellow designer ask me today what AQ coating meant, coming from a prepress person. This is an abbreviation for the words Aqueous Coating. This is a special coating that is applied to the paper to help with color brilliance and durability. It is a nontoxic finish but it tends not to be as durable or glossy as AV coating. Therefor it usually costs less than AV coating.
