Program Quirkes: Indesign CS

I have this thing that absolutely drives me nuts about Indesign CS. Part of my job is to setup envelopes with indicias. An indicia, according to Rockwell Printing’s Graphic Arts Dictionary, is the “…printing on the upper right corner of an envelope-usually the postage-paid notice or a box for placement of a stamp.”

Ok, so here is the issue I have…

When I setup the text box for the indicia information and place a stroke on that box, everything looks great. Until I make outlines!! Then the stroke disappears. This is the same if the box is filled with any type of color. That will disapper too.

Indesign Issue

I have not really been able to find a solution other than to make another box (non-text box) around the same area. So that when the text box disappears, that one is still there and shows. This just seems like a step that really shouldn’t be needed. Especially if you have the ability to place color in the text box and place a stroke on it.

If anyone has a better solution, please let me know. I would appreciate hearing about it.

Also, if you find you have a program quirk that drives you nuts, let me know. I actually have a thread started on The Creative Forum. I will post more as I come across them or have others post about them.
